Freckle the koala.

A couple of years ago I created a scratchboard featuring Freckle the koala....he lived at the Daisy Hill koala centre here in Brisbane.  This little Aussie icon has been featured as a project in the Aus. Artist's Palette and the Aus. Artist's Drawing & Inspiration magazines, and most recently he is featured on a mug, tray, teabag holder and coasters, which have been produced by the Ashdene company.

You can see the individual items at the link below:-

Bribie Is. Award

Last month my scratchboard "After the Walk" received a Highly Commended award at the Matthew Flinders Art completition at Bribie Island.

I started on this 9" x 12" scratchboard earlier this year and ended up putting it aside before completing it, so last week when looking through my boards I decided to get to work and finish this one.  Most of the work on this board has been done with a fibreglass brush.

I have been in painting mode for the past couple of weeks which certainly is a change from doing scratchart. My grandson took a photograph of his surfboard lying on the beach and I couldn't resist doing a painting of it for him.  It's now time to get back to "scratching".

A scratchboard I completed in January and it's coloured!!!!  I very rarely colour my boards and love to add just a hint of colour now and again, but with this one felt it just had to be coloured.- Title is "Paws for Thought".

Not a scratchboard this time  - this musical jewellery box was bought at a garage sale 4/5 years ago and has been in the cupboard ever since, that is, until last week when I decided to give it a new lease of life.  It was originally Chinese red with a few gold coloured scrolls, anyway this is what I have come up with.

This is a scratchboard I did a few months ago titled "A Man's Best Friend"  and which I couldn't upload at the time, it is one of my favourites and is a definite keeper.  The majority of work was done with a tattoo needle and is.another fabulous reference photo taken especially for me by Herman Fox......check out his photographs at FlickR.

I finished this 8" x 10" scratchboard today.....the reference photograph for this piece was set up by my friend Herman Fox,  The candle holder and candle took no time to do BUT the little statue took forever....I could have completed three candle holders in the time it took to complete the statue.
