My News.

I became an exhibiting member of QWASI (Queensland Wildlife Art Soc. ) in May 2011 and I entered a few of my scratchboards into their prestigious "International Wildlife in Art 2012" show which had its official opening last night.

To say there were some absolutely amazing art works would be an understatement and I was very honoured to receive a Highly Commended for my 12" x 12" board of Timba, a female lion.  There was an amazing amount of interest shown in my scratchboard pieces and I received a great number of compliments regarding my work, so it was a very rewarding night.

Unfortunately due to reflections this isn't the best photograph.

Painting Finished.

Here ya go Rita.....the painting is finished although it really doesn't look that much different.  I just need to varnish it now when the weather isn't so humid - we're expecting it to be 33C today!

I haven't done any scratchart since finishing "A Drover and his Dog" and I recently had the urge to paint as it has been such a long time since I have bothered to do any decorative painting at all.  This painting is almost finished and is on a solid timber bread box which was a garage sale find......the original design is by Ladybug Creations and called "Grandma's Homemade Apple Pie" - as my sons called my Mum Nan, I will paint Nan's Homemade Apple Pie across the top.  I still need to work on the ladys' hands and it should then be done and ready for varnishing.

A Drover & His Dog.

I finished this scratchboard yesterday and I have now started on a decorative painting which is on a lovely wooden type bread box is you can call it that and will post a pic when finished.  In the meantime I will probably start on another scratchboard as well, 'cause I just can't leave "scratching" alone.

New pattern & scratchboard.

I have been MIA for a few weeks and keeping busy with writing up a new scratchart pattern, an article for one of the Aussie magazines and working on a new board.

My new pattern 'Sleeping Angel' involves using a fibreglass brush, a tool I couldn't do without and my new board which is still a WIP should be completed in a day or so.  Permission to use the original photograph was kindly given by Greg Earl an Aussie photographer on FlickR.

My new board - A Drover and his Dog.
