Another Dog Scratchboard

I have started another scratchboard of a dog, the size is 8" x 10" so not quite as big as the previous one of "Focused".

Bubble Gazer WIP - 2

I have managed to do some more work on the fur, not that you can notice a lot of difference and also coloured the bubble.  I tend to be colouring one section on a scratchboard lately, i.e. the eyes, or a butterfly as in Nature Study (shown on my Blog banner) and I couldn't resist adding colour to the bubble on this board.  I still have to strengthen the shading of the fur at the dog's back and finish off the muzzle and nose.

Bubble Gazer - WIP

I started on this 11" x 14" board the other day of this gorgeous dog, as well as an 8" x 10" board of another dog.....I just can't help myself with them being my most favourite subject of all and as you can see at my new website......http://judithedwards-white.weebly.com     thank you again Serena.

The reference photograph for this one is by Tipseek - FlickR who kindly gave me permission to use it.  As for the title ????? this is all I can think of for now as whilst working on it I keep thinking Star Gazer and therefore it led to Bubble Gazer, I might also add a few more bubbles although there is only this one in the original photograph.

Latest FADP magazine.

I managed to find a copy of the latest Australian Fine Art & Decorative Painting magazine at our local Garden City shopping centre yesterday, and I received a nice surprise to find a picture of my "Thoughtful Gaze" on the cover. This now makes a total of seven of my scratchboards to be published and the last of my submissions for this year, so I will have to get to work and submit a few more to the Editor when done, for her approval.

New board/old board

I was asked by the owner of "Heinz" to do a scratchboard of him from a favourite photograph she had where he is lying in one of her large plant pots, and I managed to get it completed this week, as well as starting on another board of my favourite subject....a dog.

Remember this one of my "Uninvited Guest" - I really need to complete the tattered piece the crystal bowl is sitting on, and hopefully I will also get this done before too long.

A Mother's Love.

A Mother's Love was one of 7 that I entered into an art show this past weekend and one which  I had great success in last year.  The number of entries was unlimited, so I thought I'd try my luck in the categories of Animals, Still Life (any medium) and Drawing where scratchboard art was listed although it was not mentioned last year.

I received a Highly Commended for this piece which I feel I was lucky to receive, after having been told by a couple of those in attendance on the opening night that the "Judge" did not like scratchboard art, which was a highly unprofessional comment to make!  Oh well, at least he thought my work was worth a HC which was certainly surprising.
