And Baby Makes Three!!!

I couldn't resist doing a board (12" x 12") of this cute little fellow seeing I had already scratched out a male and female lion.......this one I have given the title of "Inquisitive".

The Locket.....finished.

I have finally finished "The Locket".......although I will leave it for a few days before varnishing just in case I see something that needs to be fixed.  This piece took a little longer to do than usual due to working on 2 boards,  this one which is an 8" x 10" and a lion cub on a 12" x 12" board - the cub should be finished in a couple of days now.  Another reason for this board taking longer than usual is that I coloured the locket and chain and I decided I didn't like it coloured so had to re-scratch it all to remove the ink.  The locket was given to me some years back and the roses which are miniature I have growing around the base of a statue in my front yard, I am not sure if the doily was one crocheted by my Mum.

Animal Magnetism

I entered a few of my scratchboards into the Laidley Art Show which was held this past weekend and which is the first time I have entered.  Actually I did not know their was a show held in this town until a couple of months ago - you could enter an unlimited number of entries in any medium in each category so I thought it would be a great opportunity to show some of my scratchboard work and which is often the case, no one had heard of scratchboard and it certainly created a great deal of interest.

My friend Margaret and I travelled out to Laidley on Saturday afternoon so that we could attend the opening and stayed overnight in a motel which saved a trip back to Brisbane and then having to go back on Sunday to collect my work.

I was hugely surprised when I saw that my "Animal Magnetism" won 1st Place in the Animal Category and also "Champion of the Show"!!!!!  I have to say I was on a high for quite a few hours afterwards and now that it is Monday morning I have come back down to earth although still thrilled to bits.

Still Life on Scratchboard

I am attempting to do my third still life on scratchboard and this one maybe a little challenging for me with having only done 2 others.  I have also started on a 12 " x 12" scratchboard of a cute lion cub, with having already done a male and female lion I thought I may as well do a cub too!

Here is the beginning of my latest still life - since transferring the outline I have done a few hours work to it - for a title I thought maybe "The Locket".

My first still life!  The crystal jug I bought at a second-hand shop and the jug cover was made by my Mum.  This is now hanging in my kitchen dining area.

"Crystal & Lace"

I posted the picture below to my Blog when the board was first completed but thought I would show it again.  The flowers were grown from a plant given to me by my son on Mother's Day last year, the Bible belonged to my Dad and the pocket watch to my Great Grandfather.  (My Dad's Mother's Father.)

"Memories".

Christmas is coming!!

With not having a new scratchboard to show at the moment and with plans to start on either a still life, or a lion cub to go with "Majestic Lion" and "Timba", I have managed to paint a few Christmas ornaments and thought I would post pics of them.

The 3 ornaments below have glitter on them and are very "sparklie".

The two ornaments below are for a friend's little grand-daughters.  These have the names and date of birth painted at the back of the ornament.

This is painted on a 4" x 6" canvas, the design is by Ladybug Creations (Jan McCraw).
