I didn't start another painting BUT a scratchboard!!!!!! I wanted to try something totally different and decided to "scratch" out a vase of white Chryssies that grew from a plant my son gave to me for Mother's Day last year, this was a bunch I picked a week ago, my Dad's Bible and the pocket watch which belonged to my Great Grandfather. This watch is wound by the little key you can see but unfortunately I over-wound it so now it will have to go to a watchmaker. Here is the start - I haven't taken the photo sqaure on so the vase is looking a little crooked, I still have a very long way to go and hopefully I'll take a better photo next time.
I have finally managed to do some painting after having done only one other painting on a canvas so far this year which was of my grand-children with the rose. This one is on the wooden lid of a box and is a Ladybug (Jan McCraw) Mother's Day design called "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep". Maybe I will paint something else now before commencing another scratchboard.
I have just been given the "thumbs up" from the lady who offered some advice re my board and thought I would show you the difference in what I posted prior and the way the board looks now which I am happier with.
I have added suttle colour of the dog to show through the water on his body, added hints of blue and the dogs colour to the water, lightened the ear near the big bubble and also worked on this bubble to try and make it look more transparent. You wouldn't believe how many extra hours it took just to do this so hope you think it looks better too!
